Position summary

IFF is seeking a Sustainability Manager to lead the development and execution of its Food Ingredients business's sustainability governance, reporting, and compliance programs as a standalone company. The role establishes sustainability metrics, data ownership processes, internal controls, reporting calendars, and governance frameworks, coordinates sustainability reporting for a range of stakeholders, and develops and manages a responsible sourcing roadmap aligned with business strategy, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Governance and reporting: Lead Food Ingredients' sustainability governance, reporting, and compliance programs, establishing metrics, data ownership, internal controls, reporting calendars, and governance frameworks, and coordinating accurate, timely reporting for leadership, customers, regulators, lenders, and investors.
• Responsible sourcing: Develop and manage a responsible sourcing roadmap aligned with business strategy, customer requirements, regulatory obligations, and procurement priorities, partnering with Procurement to advance supplier transparency, traceability, due diligence, certifications, and environmental and social initiatives.
• Regulatory monitoring: Monitor and assess emerging regulations including EUDR, EPR, PPWR, and other frameworks.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate across Marketing, Commercial, Quality, Operations, Regulatory, Legal, Finance, Communications, and Sustainability to address risks, opportunities, and performance improvements.
• Dashboards and KPIs: Support sustainability dashboards, leadership updates, and KPIs that connect performance outcomes with business decisions.
• Reputation risk: Partner with Corporate Affairs and Legal on coordinated responses to environmental and social reputation risks involving customers, media, NGOs, and other external stakeholders.

The role works across Procurement, Marketing, Commercial, Quality, Operations, Regulatory, Legal, Finance, Communications, and Sustainability teams, with senior leaders, and with external stakeholders including customers, regulators, lenders, investors, media, and NGOs.

Key details

• Work arrangement: Hybrid, based in St. Louis, Missouri.
• Business context: Part of the Food Ingredients business unit, identified to transition to CVC Capital Partners on completion of the announced sale (expected first half of 2027).

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or related; advanced degree preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in sustainability reporting, ESG data management, responsible sourcing, sustainable procurement, or supply chain sustainability in a multinational environment.
• Experience developing or managing sustainability governance frameworks, performance metrics, reporting processes, and assurance activities.
• Working knowledge of sustainability reporting standards, customer sustainability assessments, environmental metrics, and responsible sourcing requirements.
• Experience developing or executing responsible sourcing programs, supplier due diligence, traceability, or sustainable procurement strategies.
• Strong analytical skills with large data sets and reporting tools (Excel, PowerPoint), and proven project management in a matrixed organization.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management across multicultural, cross-functional teams.
• Stand out: experience in food ingredients, agriculture, natural raw materials, consumer goods, or manufacturing; knowledge of regenerative agriculture, biodiversity, no-deforestation programs, or Sedex; and experience with disclosures, assurance, or investor reporting.
