Position summary


The HSE Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. The primary purpose is to develop, implement, and manage health, safety, and environmental policies and programs to prevent accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses, requiring strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Through audits, risk assessments, incident investigation, training, and emergency preparedness, the HSE Manager reduces workplace risk and ensures regulatory compliance.


Key responsibilities


  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with local legislation, including OSHA, ISO standards, and other relevant regulations, and conduct regular audits, inspections, and safety drills.
  • Risk management: Identify potential hazards, conduct and update risk assessments, and develop control measures, ensuring safety precautions are communicated to relevant parties.
  • Incident investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Training and culture: Design and deliver HSE training programs and promote safety awareness through workshops, briefings, and communication.
  • Emergency response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans (fire drills, first aid, evacuation, crisis management) and act as lead during emergencies, coordinating with internal teams and external authorities.
  • Performance and reporting: Conduct safety performance evaluations, recommend improvements, and ensure accurate, timely reporting of accidents, incidents, and hazards to senior management.
  • Security: Oversee security protocols and implement and manage security systems, including access control, CCTV, and alarms.


Team and stakeholders


The role works collaboratively across departments, with senior management, and with external authorities during emergencies.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP or CIH highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles, preferably in a managerial capacity.
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments and implementing safety programs.
  • Strong background in regulatory compliance and incident investigation, and experience developing and delivering HSE training.
